Earth Signs: Taurus · Virgo · Capricorn

The three signs

• Taurus

Fixed earth: patient, sensual and steady, and nothing moves it once it has decided.

• Virgo

Mutable earth: observant, helpful and precise, always improving the details.

• Capricorn

Cardinal earth: ambitious, disciplined and strategic, with a long breath for big goals.

What defines the earth signs

Earth is the element of form. Earth signs want to see how a thing works before they commit, and once they commit, they stay. They think in seasons and years, count resources honestly and measure a promise by what gets done. They are patient, practical and close to the body and the senses: food, touch, comfort, materials and craft. Their weakness is the other side of reliability. Change arrives slowly in them, and they would rather repair than reinvent.

In love and friendship

In love, earth signs show feeling through deeds. They remember what you like, fix what is broken, arrive on time and stay through the hard months. Trust grows slowly and then holds for decades. They are sensual and physical, and need touch and shared routines more than declarations. What hurts them is unreliability and a partner who treats a promise lightly. Their friendships are few, long and steady.

At work

At work, earth signs are the people who finish. They plan, budget, check and deliver, and they build skill through years of practice. Finance, craft, medicine, farming, architecture, engineering and the management of long projects suit them. They earn authority by being right in the details. A sudden change takes them time; give them the reason and the steps, and they will carry it out better than anyone.

Under pressure

Under pressure, earth digs in. Earth signs hold on to routines, work more instead of asking for help and hide worry behind competence. Stubbornness grows, and so does the habit of postponing a decision until the situation forces it. What helps is movement outdoors, rest for the body (food, sleep, walking) and one planned change each month, so that flexibility stays trained. Calm returns when they can see the next concrete step.

Which elements fit together

Earth works best with water and with earth. Water gives earth what it grows from, feeling and imagination, and earth gives water a shape and a shore. Two earth signs understand each other's pace and build a stable shared life; they have to watch that routine does not become the whole relationship. Fire pulls earth into adventure and can overwhelm it with haste. Air brings ideas and lightness, which earth may find unreliable, except in the patient, curious air signs.

From sun sign to Codex Type

Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn as your sun sign is one placement out of 11. Your Codex Type adds the element of the moon, the ascendant and the planets, so an earth sun with a strong fire moon is a different person from someone whose chart is earth throughout. If earth leads your chart as a whole, the type below is yours.
