Your Human Design chart is calculated from two moments: your moment of birth and a point roughly 88 days before it, the so-called Design calculation. The planetary positions at these two moments produce the black and red values in the bodygraph — the conscious and unconscious profile of your makeup.

For this to be accurate, you need precise astronomical data. A serious calculation draws on highly accurate planetary positions, which is why having as exact a birth time as possible matters so much. Even twenty minutes of deviation can shift profile numbers or your authority.

If you don't know your exact time, a look at your birth certificate or the hospital archive often helps. If nothing can be found at all, your type and rough tendency are usually still reliable, while finer details should be read with care.

The nine centers in the bodygraph are either defined (colored) or open (white). Defined centers show where you function stably and reliably — you bring these qualities consistently into every situation, whether you want to or not.

Open centers aren't a weakness but your learning fields. Here you take in other people's themes and amplify them. That makes you receptive and empathetic, but it can also lead you to mistake someone else's tension or pressure for your own feeling.

In practice this means: notice which themes occupy you especially in company — things like recognition, pace or decisions. Often that's exactly where an open center lies, in which you've learned to prove something you don't actually have to prove.

A widespread error is thinking your type pins you down. A Generator isn't doomed to work and a Projector isn't condemned to wait. The labels describe how you deploy energy and how you most coherently get moving — not what you're worth or what you're allowed to achieve.

Strategy, too, is often misunderstood as a rigid rule. It's more of an experiment: over weeks you try out whether it feels lighter to follow an inner reaction instead of pushing from your head. It's about experience, not obedience to a system.

Finally, the chart replaces neither self-knowledge nor therapy. It's a model that lends language to patterns you may have long sensed. Its value only emerges when you compare it with your actual experience — not when you file yourself into a box.
