The math is simpler than you might think: you add your day of birth and your month of birth to the current calendar year. For example, someone born on March 14th would add 14 plus 3 plus 2024 for the year 2024. You then reduce the result digit by digit until a single number between 1 and 9 remains.

It's important to use the current year, not your year of birth. As a result, your personal year number changes every year and travels through the full cycle from 1 to 9. After nine, everything begins again at one.

A practical note: many people count the change exactly at January 1st, while others orient themselves around their own birthday. Both readings are common. Sense for yourself when the new theme starts to make itself felt for you.

Each number stands for a characteristic phase. The One is a new beginning, a time for decisions and first steps. The Two slows the pace and brings relationships, patience and cooperation to the foreground. The Three opens space for expression, creativity and connections, while the Four revolves around structure, work and solid foundations.

In the middle of the cycle, the Five brings movement, change and freedom; the Six turns the gaze toward responsibility, home and the people close to you. The Seven is the quietest phase: retreat, reflection and inner clarity are on the agenda.

The Eight is considered the year of harvest and outward results, often tied to money, recognition or a professional boost. The Nine closes the cycle. It invites letting go, taking leave of what no longer carries you, so that space can open for a fresh beginning.

The greatest benefit lies in timing. When you know which phase you are in, you plan your undertakings more fittingly. In a One year it pays to start something new. In a Nine year, by contrast, you rarely harvest fresh fruit; instead you tend to clear things up and finish what's open.

Rather than rowing against the current, you work with it. If you feel listless and withdrawn in a Seven year, that is no failure but part of the pattern. An Eight year, on the other hand, rewards bold action and concrete steps more than usual.

A common misunderstanding: your personal year number is not a prediction of fixed events. It describes a basic mood and meaningful priorities, not destiny. Use it as orientation, not as an excuse, and keep making your decisions yourself.
