The 13 galactic tones at a glance
Your Maya Kin is born from a solar seal and a galactic tone. The tone describes the „how“ of your energy — from the attraction of the first to the presence of the thirteenth tone.
What your Maya calculation contains
Your Kin (1–260) — your unique position in the 260-day cycle of the Tzolk'in. Each Kin carries its own energy and meaning.
Solar seal — one of the 20 solar seals (nahual) of the Maya. It describes your fundamental life energy and your mission in this world.
Galactic tone (1–13) — your tone shows how you express your life energy — from magnetic attraction (tone 1) to cosmic transcendence (tone 13).
Your oracle — four related forces that accompany your Kin: the guide, the challenge, the hidden gift and the destiny.
How your Kin is calculated
The Tzolkin is a cycle of 260 days that combines two wheels: 20 solar seals and 13 galactic tones. Each combination yields exactly one Kin — that is, one of 260 possible day signatures. Your personal Kin results from your date of birth, which is translated into this continuous counting system.
Unlike the star sign, which follows the position of the Sun, the Tzolkin is based on a pure day count with no reference to the seasons. That is why your Kin does not shift each year — your birthday has a fixed place in the 260-day wheel.
In practice this means: your solar seal describes the quality with which you act, and your tone describes the manner and stage at which this quality unfolds. Only the two together give the complete picture of your signature.
Understanding solar seal and tone
The 20 solar seals — such as Dragon, Moon, Warrior or Mirror — stand for different basic attitudes and themes that shape you. They say less about what you do than about the inner orientation from which you approach things.
The 13 tones form a kind of developmental arc from impulse through stabilising to completion. A low tone points to beginnings and the setting of intentions, a higher one to maturation, refinement and closure. So each seal takes on an additional dynamic.
When you read your Kin, it helps not to view seal and tone separately. Ask yourself concretely: in which situations do I recognise this basic attitude, and at which stage do I currently stand with this theme? From this come usable starting points rather than abstract labels.
Using the daily energy in everyday life
The Tzolkin describes not only your birth signature but also the Kin of each individual day. Many people use this to plan their days more consciously: on a day with a low tone it is good to start new ventures, while a high tone invites you to finish and let go.
It makes sense to understand the daily Kin as a suggestion, not a rule. You don't have to arrange your day by it — but the question of which theme is currently to the fore can help you place your own mood and set priorities.
A common misunderstanding is that the Tzolkin is a prediction system for luck or misfortune. More fitting is the image of a rhythm: it describes qualities of time that you can swing along with or deliberately use against the grain — the decision always stays with you.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my Tzolkin?✦
You calculate your Tzolkin — your personal Maya birth chart — from your date of birth: Birth Codex translates it through the GMT correlation (584283) into your Kin, made up of a solar seal and a galactic tone. It is exactly this birth chart that traditional Maya birth-chart interpretations read. Just enter your birth data above — you'll receive your Tzolkin for free in around 30 seconds.
How do I calculate my Maya Kin?✦
Just enter your date of birth, your time of birth and your place of birth into the calculator — Birth Codex translates this through the precise Swiss Ephemeris into the 260-day wheel of the Tzolk'in. That is how you calculate your Maya Kin with the Mayan calendar, free and in around 30 seconds. You receive your solar seal, your galactic tone and your personal oracle.
What is a Maya Kin and what does it say about me?✦
Your Kin is your position in the 260-day cycle of the Tzolk'in. It is made up of one of the 20 solar seals and one of the 13 galactic tones. Together they describe your cosmic calling — which energy you bring into this world and how you express it.
How accurate is the Mayan calendar calculation?✦
Birth Codex uses the GMT correlation (584,283), the internationally recognised standard for converting between the Gregorian and the Maya calendar. This makes the calculation of your Kin astronomically exact.
Can I combine the Mayan calendar with other systems?✦
That is exactly what Birth Codex is made for. Your Maya Kin is calculated together with 23 further cosmic systems — from Human Design through Gene Keys to the I Ching. This way you recognise patterns that single systems don't reveal.
