How the rune calendar works
The Elder Futhark rune calendar divides the year into 24 stretches — one for each rune of the oldest Germanic row. Where the twelve signs of the zodiac are of equal length, these periods keep a half-month rhythm that opens in high summer and turns once around the wheel of the year. Your birth rune is simply the one into whose window your birth date falls.
And each rune stands not only for a span of days but for a concrete image out of the Norse world: Fehu for cattle and movable wealth, Uruz for the wild aurochs and raw strength, Othala for inheritance and homeland. These images are earthy and hands-on — they name the themes of a life, not abstract powers of fate.
